Ariane de Bremond
Executive officer, International Programme Office of the Global Land Programme
Ariane de Bremond is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Global Land Programme's International Programme Office in Bern, Switzerland.
She is also Research Assistant Professor in Geographical Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park where she studies land systems using such concepts as "telecoupling" to understand economic globalization, land governance, and their interactions with land change processes. Through her affiliation with the Joint Global Change Research Institute (PNNL/UMD) an additional vein of her work has focused on on climate adaptation decision making, and more specifically, efforts to improve the usability of integrated assessment modeling for adaptation practice in the energy sector; indicators for measuring vulnerability and resilience; and synergies and trade-offs between climate change adaptation, mitigation, and development.
