Shannon Osaka is the climate zeitgeist reporter for the Washington Post, covering the policy, science, and culture of climate change. Previously a reporter for the environmental magazine Grist, she was named Covering Climate Now’s “Emerging Journalist of the Year” in 2022 and is a two-time winner of the SEAL Award for Environmental Journalism. Before becoming a journalist, she received an MPhil in human geography at the University of Oxford and published academic papers on climate modeling and perception. She rock climbs, plays chess, and occasionally writes about gymnastics for the Post’s sports section.
